Nintendo has announced 2 new Mario Kart 8 DLC packs which will add 6 new racers, 8 new vehicles, and a whopping 16 new tracks to Wii U’s must-have racer with advance purchases starting August 27, 2014. The most exciting part of this announcement being that the DLC will bring representatives from other Nintendo franchises Legend of Zelda’s Link, and Animal Crossing’s Villager and your Mayor’s assistant Isabelle.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the release of the game’s first DLC which adds 3 free Mercedes-Benz karts to Mario Kart 8, but this will be the game’s first paid DLC.
“Pack 1” is confirmed to feature racers Link, Tanooki Mario, and Cat Peach; as well as the Blue Falcon, signature ride of F-Zero’s Captain Falcon. You can also see what appears to be an F-Zero themed track and Wario’s Gold Mine from Mario Kart Wii in one of the teaser images for the pack. “Pack 1” will be available this November for $7.99.
“Pack 2” is confirmed to feature racers Villager, Isabelle, and Dry Bowser and releases this May for $7.99. What appears to be an Animal Crossing themed track is viable in one of the teaser images for the pack.
There’s also a discounted bundle available for $11.99 for those who want to grab both packs of DLC. As a bonus if you choose to buy both packs as a bundle or separately you’ll get eight different Yoshi and eight different Shy Guy skins that can be used right away.
