A new trailer has been released today debuting the upcoming collaboration between the The Pokémon Company and BANDAI NAMCO Games, the Pokemon Fighting Game POKKÉN TOURNAMENT.
The trailer shows two gorgeous 3D models of Lucario and Machamp going at it Tekken-style before letting us know the truly disappointing news that the game is currently slated for a 2015 release in Japanese arcades only. Though it is worth mentioning that Tekken games generally come to Japanese arcades first before releasing on consoles, so it isn’t crazy to hope we might see the game make it’s way to Wii U sometime in the future.
It’s also likely that the screenshots posted to NeoGaf from a teaser trailer for X and Y about a year ago that many assumed were from an upcoming Pokemon game on Wii U were in fact an early build of POKKÉN TOURNAMENT.
POKKÉN TOURNAMENT marks the second collaboration between Nintendo and BANDAI NAMCO after the developer worked alongside Masahiro Sakurai‘s Sora Ltd. Studio on the newest Super Smash Bros.
